Johns Hopkins University Research Progam Manager in Baltimore, Maryland

The Department of Epidemiology is seeking a Research Program Manager (RPM) to work as an integral part of study designed to better understand the relationships between the behavioral workforce (substance use treatment, harm reduction, and other professionals) and law enforcement. This project will then build on formative data to test interventions that will equip the behavioral workforce to more effectively interface with law enforcement. Our ultimate goal is to increase the public health benefit of harm reduction and substance use treatment services, while minimizing adverse encounters between police and program staff and clients.

We seek a mission-driven individual to work with a team of three Principal Investigators (PIs) to lead the coordination of research and dissemination activities. Specifically, the Research Program Manager will be responsible for the overall management of study procedures, data management, and external relations with stakeholders. The Research Program Manager will supervise several research and outreach staff.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Communicating and liaising with project investigators, staff, students, community partners, and research fellows (including for example coordinating key stakeholder engagement meetings with law enforcement and addiction treatment and harm reduction providers).

  • Provide weekly updates to the PIs and other key personnel.

  • Make strategic recommendations and implement decisions to meet project milestones.

  • Assist with the coordination and prioritization of various research activities.

  • Supervising, overseeing, and training members of the research team, which may include a) professional interviewers/counselors b) staff research associates, c) assistants and d) graduate students.

  • Generate reports for presentations and professional meetings.

  • Communicate regularly with principal investigators and collaborators to review data analysis progress.

  • Establish regular communication systems between study components and field site partners.

  • Oversee program evaluation activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline. Related Master's preferred.

  • Five years related experience, including demonstrated supervisory or lead responsibilities

  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula

  • Assure project management tasks are completed (i.e. prioritize, timeliness, milestones, monitoring, status).

  • Assist with preparation of IRB proposals, peer-reviewed manuscripts, conference presentations, and progress reports to funding agencies and other stakeholders.

  • Occasional travel for project meetings, stakeholder engagement, and dissemination activities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree or higher in Epidemiology or Public Health preferred (or related field).

  • Experience interfacing with criminal justice and behavioral workforce professionals.

  • Strongly preferred: Experience managing operations in community-based behavioral health organizations.

Starting Salary Range: $55,200 - $96,600 Annually (Commensurate with experience)
