The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Institute of Human Virology's (IHV's) JACQUES Initiativeis recruiting for aProgram Director of Community Engagement. For more than two decades, the JACQUES Initiative (JI) has provided person-centered programming supporting people living with HIV and communities disproportionately impacted by the HIV epidemic. Today, with an expanded focus on LGBTQIA health equity and drug user health, JACQUES continues its core community engagement and linkage to care activities, while expanding the reach and impact of our work through meaningful community partnerships and innovative programming. The JI Program Director role is a unique opportunity for a seasoned public health professional with expertise in HIV, HCV, sexual health and addiction. The Program Director will strengthen and expand our existing HIV/HCV testing, education, and engagement work, while also developing innovative new programs to increase access to HIV prevention, sexual health care, and harm reduction services. Under the direction of Medical Director of HIV Community Health Programs, the JI Program Director will collaborate in establishing innovative community-embedded care models which decrease barriers for medically disenfranchised communities to access health care and supportive services. Exempt regular staff receive a generous PAID leave package that includes over 4 weeks of vacation accrued each year, 15 paid holidays, 3 personal leave, unlimited accrual of sick time, and comprehensive health insurance; professional learning and development programs; tuition remission for employees and their dependents at any University System of Maryland school; and flexible work schedules and teleworking options (if applicable per job) *Primary Duties and Responsibilities: * Oversee the implementation of the JI engagement strategic plan to increase community access and utilization of the JI programs and services. * Design, implement and manage grant-funded, impact-based projects providing lead support for best practices and ensuring strategic alignment of funded projects with organizational mission. * Oversight of programs related to the identification and linkage to care of HIV and Hepatitis C individuals in both clinical and community settings. * Oversight and expansion of HIV prevention programs, to include services for nPEP and PrEP clients. * Collaborate with internal partners to plan and deliver targeted community engagement strategies to reach diverse populations. * Works with IHV leadership to pursue funding for projects that support JI organizational mission. * Collaboration with IHV leadership in the development and implementation of annual work plans and budgets to enhance community engagement initiatives. * Develop and implement strategies to enhance collaborative relationships with businesses, public agencies, non-profits, and other partners. * Serve as a visible, knowledgeable, and on-brand resource for external stakeholders. * Monitor data, support development of new data architecture, and assure data quality assurance for all grant-funded community engagement programs. * Create a cohesive work team that works collaboratively to achieve program goals. Oversee the recruitment, performance, and training of team members and continually review staff performance to maintain a well-trained, highly involved, and motivated team. * Perform other duties as assigned. Education:Bachelor’s degree, degree in social work or nursing preferred. Master’s degree preferred. Experience:Five (5) years of experience involving program planning and coordination experience, preferably in a community or university setting. Experience in HIV services with at least two (2) years of program oversight including program planning, budget, coordination, direction, and implementation preferred. Supervisory:Two (2) years of direct supervision and management experience. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team and managing individuals from various disciplines. * Knowledge of psychosocial issues impacting people living with HIV and the local resource landscape to address psychosocial barriers. * Familiarity with Ryan White, CAREWare, and 340b programs. * Commitment to cultural responsiveness and justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion work, including anti-racism, LBGTQIA health equity, disability justice and neurodiversity. * Familiarity with trauma-responsive practices. * Comfort with harm reductionist approach and sex positivity. * Data management, Microsoft Excel and Power Apps, EPIC EMR.
