Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Principal/Senior Principal Data EngineerProduction and Material Control to join our Production and Material Control Team in Baltimore, Maryland .

We are seeking a highly motivated individual, with an eagerness to learn, and a passion for improving operations through innovative tools and models. The selected candidate must have a willingness to explore new technologies independently and collaborate on capabilities and solutions in a team environment.

What You’ll get to Do:

  • Develop expertise in new Dynamic Production Scheduling capability, building processes for modelling and validating BWI manufacturing system and demand accurately in support of automating schedule creation and executable manufacturing build plans

  • Work with Synchrono (supplier) to become a Dynamic Production Scheduling (DPS) technical subject matter expert in support of manufacturing planning and scheduling

  • Work with Master Schedulers to understand DPS Schedule metric detractors and make recommendations for improvement

  • Work with Industrial Engineering group to ensure routings reflect all necessary data elements to properly schedule hardware through the factory

  • Collaborate with Production and Material Control team teams to understand data analysis needs and build custom solutions in Tableau or similar tools to meet those needs

  • Utilize various toolsets such as SAP, and Data Warehouse for data mining and analysis

  • Utilize Tableau or similar tools to build core capabilities to better decipher and visualize data

  • Explore/develop new technologies or approaches to data mining and interpretation

  • Assist in developing and maintaining SharePoint systems for department use

  • Create ad hoc reports based on unique business needs

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to data fidelity, dashboards or reports

  • Communicate effectively with internal customers, in written and verbal format

This req may be filled as a Principal (Level 3) or a Senior Principal (Level 4) based on the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications: Principal Level

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM related field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of relevant experience; Master’s degree in a STEM related field with 3 years of relevant experience

  • Experience in database or web programming, information systems or data management

  • Experience with object-oriented languages, such as JAVA, VBA, Python, SQL, R, C+ and database management languages such as SQL or Access

  • Experience with Tableau

  • Must be proficient in MS Office suite -Excel, Project, Visio, PowerPoint, and SharePoint

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Level Security Clearance

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM area (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 8 years of relevant experience (6 years with an MS)

  • Experience in database or web programming, information systems or data management

  • Experience with object-oriented languages, such as JAVA, VBA, Python, SQL, R, C+ and database management languages such as SQL or Access

  • Experience with Tableau

  • Must be proficient in MS Office suite -Excel, Project, Visio, PowerPoint, and SharePoint

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Level Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in or knowledge of a manufacturing environment

  • Experience with SAP

  • Familiarity with Dynamic Production Scheduling

  • Familiarity with data transportation formats, including, but not limited to JSON, XML

  • Familiarity with modern web development stack (ASP.NET, MVC, JS Frameworks, CSS, HTML)

  • Experience with database technologies including ORACLE and SQL Server

  • Experience with manufacturing datasets and data structures

  • Familiarity with AGILE development

Salary Range: $115,800 - $173,800

Salary Range 2: $144,200 - $216,400

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
