OVERVIEW

The primary responsibility of the Operator 1 is to operate a fork truck in all capacities; including but not limited to production lines, stock rotation, transit to and from Cooperage, re-warehousing and handling inbound materials. Properly loads trucks to assure minimum damage to sugar in transit. Takes packaged sugar inventory in conjunction with supervision. Unloads and counts returned pallets. Unloads pallet trucks. Notifies Foreman of any truck which may be unacceptable by company loading standards. Prepares necessary papers and obtains such signatures and information as required by standard company authority. Turns in completed papers to proper authority. Reworks partial pallets and damaged pallets. Performs other duties as directed by supervisor. Performs all work in a manner which complies with all safety practices and sanitation standards.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for proper and safe stacking and unstacking of pallet loads of sugar exercising care to prevent damage to packages or pallets.

  • Responsible for assuring shipment of proper grade and quantity as specified with minimum supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide with reasonable competence.

  • Must be proficient in the proper and safe operations of a fork lift truck.

  • Must exercise proper judgment as to the stability of pallets when stacking.

  • Proficient in proper loading procedures.

  • The Operator is required to climb in and out of lift truck and may occasionally climb stairs.

  • Upper extremity function is needed for grasping, pushing, pulling and lifting. Lifting requirements are:

  • 1 – 10 lbs constantly

  • 10 – 20 lbs frequently

  • 20 – 50 lbs occasionally

  • The Operator is required to have the visual and physical capability to operate the fork lift truck accurately.

HOURLY RATE: $30.87
