Robert Half Medical Billing Specialist in Baltimore, Maryland

Description

We are looking for a Medical Billing Specialist to join our client's team in Baltimore, Maryland. This role involves overseeing the billing and collections process for medical services, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. The selected candidate will be responsible for handling a variety of tasks, including charge and payment corrections, claim processing, and communicating with various parties such as patients and insurance companies.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of charge and payment corrections

• Coordinate with providers to clarify information necessary for proper account/claim adjudication

• Ensure all claims are correctly sent to insurance companies

• Follow up with Medicare, Medicaid, Medicaid Managed Care, and Commercial insurance companies on unpaid insurance accounts

• Appeal to insurance companies online or via paper submission when necessary

• Assist in reconciling deposits and patient collections

• Aid in the provision of billing audit related information

• Process refund requests when required

• Attend provider meetings/workshops as needed

• Communicate with the Billing Manager to identify and resolve audit review issues

• Handle billing calls and questions from patients and third-party carriers

• Respond to correspondence related to patient accounts

• Communicate daily with internal and external customers via phone calls and written communications

• Identify trends and carrier issues relating to billing and reimbursements and report findings to the team lead or supervisor

• Research and record findings, and communicate effectively with the Manager to achieve optimum performance

• Ensure patient confidence and protect medical office operations by keeping patient information confidential.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a role focused on medical billing

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Demonstrated knowledge of billing functions within a medical context

• Experience in claim administration and processing

• Familiarity with collection processes, specifically for medical billing and patient collections

• Experience in managing insurance claims

• Ability to handle refund requests efficiently and accurately

• Basic understanding of medical coding

• Prior experience in medical collections

• Knowledge of claims processing in a medical or healthcare setting.
