University of Maryland, Baltimore Laboratory Research Assistant (Sign-On Bonus) in Baltimore, Maryland
The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Center for Vaccine Development and Global Health (CVD) within the University of Maryland School of Medicine is currently recruiting for a Laboratory Research Assistant. The Laboratory Research Assistant is responsible for performing research activities in a laboratory setting. This position is now eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonus. Half will be paid following 30 days of satisfactory service at UMB, and half will be paid upon successful completion of probation.Current UMB employees are not eligible for the sign-on bonus. Essential Functions: * Perform routine laboratory maintenance and research activities such as: general housekeeping, ELISA assays, preparing solutions, processing animal and clinical specimens, and monitoring of adequate functioning of equipment. * May perform advanced laboratory research activities such as: cell culture, ELISpot assays, and functional assays. May participate in the design of research studies. * Compile results and analyze research data using various relevant computer software applications. * Assist with literature research, editing and preparing manuscripts, scientific illustrations and computer graphics for publication. * May assist with ordering supplies and shipping of clinical specimens. * Performs other duties as assigned. Education: *Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry or in a field of study related to the research of the laboratory. *Experience: N/A Supervisory: N/A Licensure/Certification: N/A Other: May consider a combination of directly related experience and education. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
