The Foundation and Ground Improvement Division of Michels Construction, Inc. is a rapidly growing provider of geotechnical construction solutions across North America. The Project Manager position based in Baltimore, MD is an excellent fit for an engineer who desires to work in construction with a balance of geotechnical design and project management.
Typical projects will involve all types of specialty geotechnical construction including deep foundations, ground improvement and/or earth retention systems. The anticipated salary range is: $90,000 ‐ $140,000 annually. This information reflects the anticipated base salary for this position based on current market data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on individual’s skills, experiences, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
Project Manager Responsibilities:
Identify new opportunities and coordinate with management for support and overall business development strategy
Review project drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports to evaluate viability, prepare proposals and work with engineering and estimating to provide project bids
Build client relationships while helping to win new work
Provide value to clients through development of innovative and cost-effective geotechnical solutions
Negotiate construction contracts (with help from our legal team) and understand contract requirements
Prepare submittals including construction means and methods as well as design drawings and calculations for design-build work
Prepare project budgets and schedules, monitor and approve project costs, and accurately forecast estimated project revenue and profit
Oversee and inspect projects to monitor compliance with plans and specification and resolve any quality nonconformance issues
Identify and address changes and escalate change issues to management if necessary
Ensures compliance with all Michels and OSHA safety requirements

What it takes:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with 5 to 10 years of geotechnical, construction or industry related experience is required
Professional Engineer license is required
Experience in design and construction of deep foundations, ground improvement or earth retention is preferred
Master’s degree in civil engineering with a focus in geotechnical or structural engineering is preferred
Must possess a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record
Some travel for project site visits and meetings is required
