Poly Seal, LLC seeks Electrical Controls Engineer - Baltimore, MD.

Summary: Provide engineering support to define corrective actions, investigate and implement continuous improvement opportunities. Assist improvement initiatives per the company business model, work with, and support, all plant operations at Poly Seal, LLC in Baltimore, MD.

Salary: $140,650-$145,000 annually

Responsibilities

  1. Research, design, and develop controls systems for industrial use utilizing knowledge in engineering and consultation with equipment manufacturers. Plan department activities based on production schedules to make optimum use of manpower and facilities;

  2. Investigate, develop and implement activities to reduce machine downtime while increasing process efficiency. Review, assess and design safety devices and controls as needed;

  3. Make recommendations for development action; analyze, modify and improve electrical programmable logic controllers (PLC) and human-machine interfaces (HMI);

  4. Provide design and technical support of PLC based hardware, and control systems in a production environment (primarily Allen Bradley with some Siemens and Omron);

  5. Provide on-going support and resolution of control system problems, including taking ownership of such problems to completion;

  6. Work with personnel to assist in troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment and control systems problems;

  7. Manage Capital projects from conception to installation as directed by supervisor while following OSHA, EPA, SQF, and local code regulations;

  8. Interface with outside Machine / Control Vendors for the purpose of defining, designing, implementing, troubleshooting and redefining processes;

  9. Communicate effectively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Maintenance Departments at the local and corporate level;

  10. Develop electrical and mechanical documentation, design modifications and programs for equipment;

  11. Develop, review and implement work instructions as needed;

  12. Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Engineering and Technology Management or related field and 5 years of experience as an Electrical Controls Engineer or related occupation. In the alternative, a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Engineering and Technology Management or related field and 3 years of experience as an Electrical Controls Engineer or related occupation is also acceptable.

  2. Previous experience must include:

  • Experience with "Lean Manufacturing", 5S, TPM programs

  • Circuit design and analysis

  • Control systems design, modeling, and optimization

  • Electrical schematics development

  • Data collection and analysis

  • Computer systems building and operation

  • Electronic equipment maintenance

  • Demonstrated proficiency in engineering tools like CAD software and MATLAB

  • Electrical programs, PM programs implemented

  • Electrical programs library implemented

  • Work with upgrades of obsolete system controls.
