PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION Provide strategic leadership for the utility's security program including the safety of employees and the protection of company facilities and assets. The protection of facilities and assets will include the utility's transmission and distribution assets, vehicles and materials. The position develops and directs policies, procedures and programs to coordinate a safe and secure environment. This role is also responsible for leading confidential investigations and acting as a liaison with local and federal law enforcement agencies when necessary. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES - Develop, communicate and implement security policies and/or procedures for the utility relative to employee safety, building access, video surveillance, physical security, forensics, and other security functions. Routinely audit practices to ensure compliance. - Oversee a network of vendors who safeguard the company's assets and physical safety of the employees and visitors. - Ensure an employee protection program and structure is in place to safeguard employees working in the field. Prepare and instruct training in violence prevention. - Partner with HR and Supply to ensure complete background investigations are performed on new hires, contractors and subcontractors and on employees moving into roles with access to NERC assets or Sensitive Personnel Information (SPI). - Conduct sensitive investigations relating to employee safety or misconduct, theft, property damage, fraud and other issues involving standards of business conduct. Works closely with HR to resolve such incidents. - Serve as a member of the Exelon Security (Exelon and EU) leadership teams. Interface with Real Estate & Facilitates, OHS, IT Security, Ethics & Compliance and Internal Audit professionals on cross-functional teams as appropriate to minimize risk to the utility and company. - Confer with representatives of local government to ensure cooperation and coordination of activities with law enforcement and other appropriate agencies. - Select, manage and develop staff members. Develop key talent and provide opportunities for knowledge sharing and skill building. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Minimum: - BS/BA in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Security Management or related field. 15+ years managerial experience in a corporate setting in an internal security department or FBI, Secret Service, Department of State, state and/or local law enforcement - Ability to obtain and maintain a 'SECRET' level clearance - Ability to acquire and maintain handgun permits - Strong liaison with Department of Homeland Security, and FBI/Joint Terrorism Task Force, senior officials at local, state, and federal law enforcement, emergency management and intelligence agencies Preferred: - MBA or advanced degree - Professional certifications such as CPP, PSP, PCI, CFE, etc.
