The University of Maryland School of Social Work has an exciting opportunity for a Community Program Specialist to join their team.As a part of The Center for Restorative Change (CRC), the Community Program Specialist position works with the Family Connections Baltimore program and includes community outreach, partnership development, screenings and intake activities, case management and post-service evaluation in order to support the safety, stability, and well-being of children and their families. Family Connections Baltimore has served families for more than 20 years to identify specific needs—whether housing, food, or support with their child’s educational progress—and work alongside families to help them advocate for getting their needs met. 100% of families involved with Family Connections Baltimore have stayed out of the state’s formal child welfare system. Primary Duties * Build and maintain partnerships with community partners and referral sources to raise awareness of program services with Family Connections Baltimore and support program outcomes. Attend Back to School Events with community schools and provide trainings and presentations on services with Family Connections for community-based organizations. * Develop materials to support community outreach and awareness efforts of services offered with Family Connections Baltimore that are aligned with the CRC and University brand guidelines. Organize and manage outreach materials to support community events. * Complete in-person screenings to assess families’ eligibility and appropriateness for services with Family Connections Baltimore, as well as applicable referrals. * Partner with families to complete the intake process, including the application for services and consent to service a minor. * Facilitate family assignment meetings with clinicians, interns, supervisors, and field instructors. Coordinate with Director and Deputy Director on current workloads with clinicians and interns, evaluating and assessing the program’s capacity to enroll families. * Assess families’ immediate needs and safety factors to establish safety plans and refer families to additional resources/services. Provide weekly and bi-weekly support to families on the waitlist to enroll into services. * Utilize the Management Information System (MIS) for clinical documentation and administrative activities. Construct family assignments and electronic records including household information, risk factors and presenting factors, and personal information for household members. * Facilitate, record, and report on post-termination evaluations with families at 3-month and 12-month mark of completing services as part of the contract requirements with funders. * Provide supplemental reports related to community outreach efforts, referral activities, and enrollment for quarterly and annual reporting to contractors and funders. * Support social work student task supervision and learning outcomes. * Perform other duties as assigned. Education: *Bachelor's degree required. *Experience: Two (2) years of community program coordination, development, oversight, or administration. Other: Spanish-speaking preferred. Related experience to program may be substituted for education. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks and assignments. * Ability to understand project goals and objectives, engage in planning, and implement goals within a team structure. * Ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters with tact and discretion. Ability to maintain confidentiality of client information in accordance with professional standards, HIPAA (Health Information Portability & Accountability Act), FERPA (Family Education Rights & Privacy Act), and state regulations. * Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with people, including people who may be in crisis. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. * Ability to work as part of a team, as well as with individuals and/or families from diverse ethnic, racial, and social-economic backgrounds. * Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. * An understanding of the concepts of institutional and structural racism and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities. * Knowledge and experience about clinical services for children exposed to maltreatment, individuals with substance use disorders, and children with behavior and learning problems.
