Northern Metal Fab, Inc. Design Project Engineer in Baldwin, Wisconsin

We have an exciting opportunity for a strong manufacturing engineer to join or growing team! If you have a strong manufacturing engineering background and some metal fabrication experience we are looking for you. Additional bonus skills are estimating/project management, and SolidWorks.

Job purpose

Manage and lead continuous improvement projects. Develop new and improved process for existing and new projects. Evaluate new equipment and technology. Develop processes for current projects. Work with customers to improve their designs.

Duties and responsibilities

Develops, implements and maintains systems that provide the engineering staff with the capability to create consistent layouts and aid production in manufacturing product using cost effective and efficient means.

Controls scheduling and order entry of jobs.

Delegates work assignments and projects within the engineering staff.

Responsible for controlling the revision of existing plans to conform to engineering change orders.

Will take an active role within the engineering staff in improving systems and procedural formats for completing tasks.

Responsible for resolution of conflicts with external and internal customers on projects by adhering to standard procedures and customer requirements.

Works safely, following all procedures and utilizes proper safety equipment.

Performance Standards

Conformance to job responsibilities.

Adherence to department efficiency, quality, and safety policies.

A performance review to be given every 6 months, with a yearly salary review.

Other measures as determined by the Engineering Manager and/or President

Qualifications

PC literate, CAD/CAM experience, and a strong knowledge of construction of bills of material and routing in an integrated shop management software system. Working knowledge of SolidWorks a plus

Excellent organization and communication skills.

Strong mathematical skills and a high aptitude for detail.

Bachelor’s Degree in a related engineering or industrial field, or an Associate Degree in a related technical field with metal fabrication experience in a job shop.
