Summary
The F-16 Machinist is responsible for performing precision machining tasks to manufacture, repair, and modify components for F-16 aircraft. This role requires expertise in operating CNC machines, lathes, mills, and other machining tools to produce parts that meet exact specifications. The F-16 Machinist works closely with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure parts are fabricated and repaired in accordance with military standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operate a variety of machining equipment, including CNC machines, lathes, mills, and grinders, to manufacture or repair F-16 aircraft components.
Perform precision cutting, drilling, milling, and shaping of metals and composite materials according to technical drawings and F-16 specifications.
Inspect finished parts using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to ensure quality and accuracy.
Follow detailed technical manuals and engineering drawings to produce parts that meet F-16 operational requirements and military standards.
Work collaboratively with technicians and engineers to troubleshoot machining challenges, making adjustments to ensure parts are fit for use.
Document completed work, including machining processes and modifications, and report any issues or defects encountered during the process.
Maintain and monitor machinery and equipment, performing routine maintenance and ensuring tools are in proper working order.
Uphold all safety protocols and guidelines, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Participate in training and development opportunities to stay current on machining techniques and F-16 technical requirements.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance.
In order to obtain a secret clearance, qualified candidates must have US Citizenship.
Ability to pass physical screening requirements
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent; a technical degree or certification in machining or a related field is preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent; certification or training in machining, CNC operation, or a related field is preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in precision machining, ideally with experience in military or aerospace components; F-16 experience is highly desirable.
Proficiency in operating CNC machines, manual lathes, mills, and other machining equipment.
Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, engineering schematics, and technical manuals.
Familiarity with precision measurement tools and quality control processes for aerospace or military components.
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Knowledge of safety practices in a machining or maintenance environment.
USAF 7 level in aircraft maintenance
Work Conditions
Position is located OCONUS and in an austere environment; work is being performed on the flight line, limited hangar or aviation field environment.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and parts, tooling and other awkward items sometimes weighing greater than 50 lbs, including up and down stairs.
Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday.
Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
