SUMMARY:
The F-16 Aerospace Engineer II is responsible to serve as an expert providing singular and unique technical expertise and advice on the F-16 aircraft. Perform routine engineering tasks and lead engineering projects. Work assignments may include creation of processes and procedures, proposal development support, and projects relating to the design, test, and qualification of new products as well as development of non-standard repairs and reverse engineering of components. This position is expected to work semi-independently with the ability to proactively identify issues and constraints and utilize the resources of the organization to work through them to achieve the goals defined by the Engineering Manager without requiring day-to-day task level direction
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for system and subsystem engineering, planning, risk mitigation, and sustainment of the F-16 aircraft
Verifies work is done according to specification, regulation, and company policy
Able to communicate effectively and work well as a member of decentralized team
Knowledge of technical orders and regulations and safety codes and practices is mandatory.
Responsible for submitting deviation requests and recommendations for aircraft repairs outside of the standard technical orders.
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance.
In order to obtain a secret clearance, qualified candidates must have US Citizenship.
Ability to pass physical screening requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Required:
BS in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
Five (5) years’ experience in aerospace engineering
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio)
Preferred:
Three (3) years’ experience with the F-16 aircraft
Familiarity with deviation forms and associated systems or equivalent processes
Have worked in overseas environments for extended periods of time
Work Conditions
Position is located OCONUS and in an austere environment; work is being performed on the flight line, limited hangar or aviation field environment.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and parts, tooling and other awkward items sometimes weighing greater than 50 lbs, including up and down stairs.
Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday.
Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
