Summary
The Aircraft Ground Equipment (AGE) Specialist performs troubleshooting, routine servicing, and timely repairs to maximize equipment availability for mission support. This role ensures that essential ground support equipment (GSE), such as generators, air compressors, hydraulic test stands, and air conditioners, is fully operational and safe.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on a variety of AGE, including power units, hydraulic test stands, air conditioners, and lighting systems.
Use diagnostic tools and technical manuals to identify and repair malfunctions in AGE systems. Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical issues accurately to prevent equipment downtime.
Perform repairs and component replacements on AGE as needed, following safety and technical guidelines.
Keep accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections for all assigned equipment.
Follow all safety protocols when working with AGE and hazardous materials.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance.
In order to obtain a secret clearance, qualified candidates must have US Citizenship.
Ability to pass physical screening requirements
Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or GED.
At least 4 years of experience in aircraft ground equipment maintenance.
US Air Force experience is preferred.
Experience working OCONUS in an austere environment is preferred.
Work Conditions
Position is located OCONUS and in an austere environment; work is being performed on the flight line, limited hangar or aviation field environment.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and parts, tooling and other awkward items sometimes weighing greater than 50 lbs, including up and down stairs.
Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday.
Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
