Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Health Information Management Supervisor to join our team and oversee our HIM department. The Health Information Management Supervisor will be responsible for the daily operations of the HIM department, ensuring the accurate and efficient management of health records, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the safeguarding of patient information. This role requires a strong leader with excellent organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and a thorough understanding of healthcare documentation and privacy laws.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the Health Information Management staff.

  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of patient health records.

  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and other relevant health information regulations.

  • Implement and monitor HIM policies and procedures.

  • Oversee the release of information process, ensuring adherence to legal and ethical guidelines.

  • Conduct regular audits of health records to ensure quality and accuracy.

  • Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems and ensure proper training for staff.

  • Collaborate with other departments to improve processes and resolve issues related to health information.

  • Provide training and development opportunities for HIM staff.

  • Prepare and present reports on HIM department performance to senior management.

    Requirements

  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification preferred.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in health information management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

  • Strong knowledge of health information systems, medical terminology, and coding standards (ICD-10, CPT).

  • Excellent understanding of HIPAA and other relevant health information privacy laws.

  • Proficient in the use of EHR systems and HIM software.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
