The Opportunity

This position works out of our IRAQ affiliate in the Established Pharmaceutical Division where we are committed to bringing the benefits of our trusted medicines to more people in the world’s fastest-growing countries. Our broad portfolio of high-quality and differentiated branded generic medicines reaches across multiple therapeutic areas including gastroenterology, women's health, cardiometabolic, pain management/central nervous system, and respiratory.

Responsibilities :

I. Compliance:

Ensure that all activities and interactions are conducted with due regard to all applicable local, global, and national laws, regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, Company policies and accepted standards of best practice.

Ensure to report any adverse event or safety concern to the pharmacovigilance department within 24 hours.

II. Stakeholder Interactions

-Development of scientific partnership with Key Opinion leaders and HCP through evidence-based communication and education, medical information on products and therapy area.

  • Ensure regular interaction with KOLs 4-5 visits per day

  • KOL mapping (categorization and developing action plan for each KOL throughout the year) after aligning with direct manager:

  • Setting at least 2 action plan per KOL per year.

  • KOLs identification based on preset selection criteria

  • Develop KOL list/map (at least 10-15/TA) across Iraq territories

-Provide scientific and technical support for, and help maintain professional and credible relationships with, key opinion leaders and academic centers to ensure access to current medical and scientific information on the products and areas of therapeutic interest as per Abbott policy and country regulations.

-Deliver credible presentations and education related to the disease and TA and clinical evidence of products, to HCPs individually or in groups (meetings, clinical sessions, etc.), where requested.

-Participate in the selection process to identify appropriately qualified physicians the Company would wish to engage in collaborative efforts – such as potential research collaborations, or lecture/meeting support (Round Tables, Congresses, Symposia, etc.); and to ensure a high level of scientific or educational integrity in these collaborative efforts. Selection process should not be influenced with prescribing behavior of the HCP,

-Attend relevant Scientific Societies meetings and Conferences, and develop summaries of key messages for use within the Company – such as key areas of scientific/company interest, new trends in diagnosis, monitoring and treatments in the therapeutic area, etc.

-Provide key opinion leaders and internal medical with scientific and technical support for publications of scientific or medical interest.

-Identify and develop local speakers and upgrade to regional and global level

  • Support in the inclusion of new products.

III. Promotional Materials

  • Make sure that approved promotional/scientific materials are being distributed and used as per the company policy and local laws.

  • Inform commercial team to withdraw or refrain from using any promotional material that is either not approved or expired after aligning with direct manager.

IV. Clinical Research Performance

  • Identify investigators appropriate for clinical trials.

-Assist in the initiation, oversight and follow up of assigned clinical studies and medical projects initiated within the relevant therapeutic area (e.g. post marketing clinical activities such as registry/database projects, epidemiological surveys, post-authorization studies (phase IV), IIS projects, etc.): all activities to comply with applicable local laws, guidelines, codes of practice, SOPs, and Global Pharmaceutical Research and Development (GPRD) SOPs.

V. Medical Information

  • Follow up with Medical affairs team members to make sure the achievement of 80% of medical Query resolution within 10 working days across all TA.

  • Ensure that the sales team are reporting all medical inquiries, adverse events and quality complaints on the iSTAR system for medical information.

  • Ensure copyright purchase for publication to be shared as a response to a medical information

VI. Brand Team Execution

-Deliver medical refresher to internal employees and medical representatives on the disease.

-Participating in medical Affairs activities e.g., conferences, congresses, etc.

-To generate insights and to share them with relevant stakeholders

  • Spend 80% of time in field either in individual KOL interactions or joining sales team in double visits to support them in scientific discussion. (4 days out of 5 in fields)

-Participating routinely in Brand Team meetings.

-Involve the Medical activity in strategic initiatives

-Support medical team members in collecting insights during molecule assessment process

V-Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Degree in health scienced (holding M.D, PhD, PharmD, Post graduate degree in Life sciences or related is an advantage)

  • Experience in pharmaceutical industry not less than 3 years

  • Preferably previous experience in MSL role

  • Through knowledge and experience of the dynamics in healthcare system and pharmaceutical industry in Iraq

  • Effective communication and presentation skills

  • Act as team player

  • Analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Fluent in English both written and spoken. Arabic is a plus.

VI- Location

Iraq

VII- Travel time

Within Iraq at least once per quarter and outside the country once requested by the higher management.

VIII- Smart KPIs:

  • Develop KOL list/map (at least 10-15/TA) across Iraq territories

  • Setting at least 2 action plan per KOL per year

  • F2F meeting with 5 KOLs/day at least including all therapy areas

  • Achieve 15 interaction with KOL/ month on average (including F2F, Virtual, hybrid…etc)

  • Develop at least 1 new speaker/therapy area/quarter

  • Attend at least 2 speaker meetings/month including all therapy areas

  • Conduct at least 1 presentation/quarter including all therapy areas.

  • Support in the inclusion of new products (action in 10 working days)

  • Deliver at least 1 medical refresher/Quarter including all therapy areas

  • Send reminders for internal employees of Iraq on ISTAR once/quarter
