Role description
The opportunity
Unity is looking for a IP Paralegal for a temporary part-time assignment (15 hours or 2 days/week from mid-December through late April). In this role, you will be a member of the IP Legal Team and will partner with engineering and product development teams focusing on a range of matters related to rights acquisition and clearance with respect to the development and release of our industry-leading suite of products. You will assist the IP Team, and work with outside counsel, on rights acquisition and clearance for products and services, as well as enforcement of Unity's IP rights. You will use your experience and knowledge in IP to manage Unity's trademark portfolio, its enforcement and takedown practices, copyright registrations, and other IP projects. Success in this role requires experience in or familiarity with copyright, trademark, and trade secrets, as well as intellectual curiosity, strong practical legal skills, technology acumen, enthusiasm, a self-starter attitude, practicality, collaboration and communication.
What you'll be doing
Work with the IP Team, key business stakeholders, and outside counsel to manage Unity's trademark portfolio and copyright registrations
Be the primary contact for inbound and outbound takedown processes
Perform IP clearance work for pre-commercialization products and services
What we're looking for
Paralegal with proven experience in one or more of the following:
Foundational knowledge in trademarks and copyrights
Experience in trademark clearance, searches, enforcement
IP portfolio management (including invoice tracking and approval) experience
You might also have
Experience with trademark search tools and brand management vendors, such as Tracerâ„¢
Previous copyright application deposit preparation, and/or domain name registration and management experience
Familiarity with basic patent law concepts
Prior in-house experience working with software and/or game development
