BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY Performs highly complex (senior-level) security enforcement work safeguarding priority resources, buildings, personnel, and other equipment belonging to the Texas Military Department, and the Department of Defense (DoD). Guards and patrols property against loss or damage from fire, theft, vandalism, accident, or trespass; maintaining order and protecting life. Implements and enforces security standards, policies, and procedures. Assists Senior Shift Lead with oversight of daily shift operations and provides dir ction and guidance to lower-level security officers. Reports to the Senior Shift Lead and works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Work Hours: Shift Work, 40 Hours a Week ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Oversees, monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors and other persons to maintain security of installation premises to include providing directions, assistance, or information and issuing visitor passes. Performs Installation Entry Controller duties and provides overwatch during minimum traffic times. Patrols base to protect against suspicious activity and assure the safety and security of property, personnel, buildings and equipment. Performs after-duty hour checks of buildings and alarmed facilities. Responds to alarms and investigate events. Obtains witness, victim, and complainant statements and assists with developing accurate written incident/investigative statements; reports and follows up on security incidents. Receives reports from lower-level security officers, when applicable, regarding security and safety related violations, complaints or unusual conditions. Reviews and prepares detailed reports of shift activities and incidents/accidents. Reports all emergencies, accidents and incidents to the Senior Shift Leader and/or Security Operations Supervisor. Evaluates and makes recommendations on matters of safety and security. Directs traffic and performs crowd control. Apprehends or detains suspects in accordance with applicable state laws and organizational operating procedures. Acts as the main point of contact for all radio and phone communications for incidents and emergencies. Assists federal, military, and local law enforcement agencies during VIP visits. Performs first aid. Participates in all mandatory state on-boarding training, and on-the-job training specific to security enforcement duties and responsibilities. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisory and training personnel. Accounts for all firearms and motor vehicles, including user-level maintenance and services. Prepares and maintains security logs, incident, and fuel reports. Aids Senior Shift Leader in assigning, reviewing and evaluating the work of lower-level Security Officers. Supervises security personnel, activities, and operations in the absence of the Senior Shift Lead, to include overseeing and monitoring the installations access control points; directing security patrols; supervising and coordinating security responses to incidents; and determining shift assignments. Assists and coordinates CAPPS transactions for shift with the Senior Shift Lead. Attends work regularly and observes approved work hours in accordance with agency state employee policies procedures handbook. May be required to perform duty in support of national emergencies, disasters and other missions, to include holidays and weekends. Maintains weapons qualification on assigned weapon system(s). Performs related work as assigned. Qualifications: MINIMIUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is required. High school diploma and/or transcript, from an institute of higher education, must be furnished to HR upon employee orientation.
