Microsoft Corporation Software Engineer II in Austin, Texas

Microsoft’s Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth. Our mission is to deliver the world’s computer with an industry-leading supply chain. CSCP is responsible for strategic sourcing, customer demand forecasting, capacity planning and management, supply chain planning and execution, capacity provisioning, and decommissioning and dispositioning of datacenter assets worldwide.

We are the Supply Chain Platform Engineering team that powers the Cloud and Devices supply chains of Microsoft with opportunity to productize. We are seeking a Software Engineer II with proven track record in developing large scale cloud services and systems to help us design, and build scalable, secure and efficient Supply Chain Traceability Platform and systems for our ecosystem. As part of this challenging initiative, you’ll collaborate closely with highly motivated and skilled architects, program managers, developers, compliance experts, business users, internal and external supply chain partners & customers to understand and deliver on the platform capabilities. Responsibilities

  • Design and implement secure by design and extensible Supply chain platform systems with focus on scalability, resiliency, quality and efficiency.

  • Actively works with stakeholders across architects, business, PM, compliance and internal/external ecosystem for understanding requirements and architecture and turning them into solid technical designs. Proactively seeks and contributes to design and code reviews with broader teams. Influence and communicate long-term product vision, technical vision, roadmap for your area.

  • Self-driven for technical problem solving, investigate industry best practices and new technologies to drive innovation through prototypes and experimentation in a data driven, outcome based approach.

  • Ensure high quality platform deliverables with comprehensive unit testing, peer code reviews as well integration efforts between different platforms and systems

  • Have a customer first & live site mindset. Ensures effective engineering fundamentals. Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning within the team.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ year of Azure Service knowledge or equivalent(Microsoft Entra ID authentication, App Services, Functions, Message Eventing, App Services), Azure DevOps and Relational databases.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience. 6+ years of software design and development experience with middle tier or backend services.

  • Working experience with Representational State Transfer (REST), service-oriented architecture and cloud services experience Full stack development experience using Angular, .NET or similar technologies.

  • Knowledge of working with SAP or integrating with SAP. Knowledge of Supply Chain Traceability and compliance

  • Ability to design and collaborate on large, complex programs and solutions. Ability to communicate technical details clearly. Self-motivated with a drive for reaching across teams and organizations to make progress collaboratively.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
