Responsible for providing journey-level craftsmanship in the calibration, installation, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation and control systems.Upgrades controls or recommends modifications to existing controls. Confers with users in order to gain an understanding of their needs and provides technical advice. Attend staff meetings, safety training or meetings, and plant operation and maintenance training coursesActs as a lead troubleshooter for all crafts involved with the power plant, chilling stations, or building metering equipment. Researches new technical data for new products.Performs journey-level work in the designing, installation, maintenance, and operation of all pneumatic and digital instrumentation and control systems. Coordinates commissioning of control systems on new or renovation projects. Accuracy is required in all phases of work. Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Monitors, recommends modifications, repairs, and installs all components for both pneumatic, PLC, SCADA, and DDC systems. Assists maintenance engineers with technical issues. Informs appropriate personnel of unusual conditions, problems, or deficiencies as related to equipment and corrects as necessary. Completes work orders as required using automated systems.Uses hand tools and electrical test equipment to troubleshoot control systems and associated mechanical and electrical systems. Performs work from written or oral instructions, specifications, blueprints, or wiring diagrams. Cleans and maintains all equipment and work areas. Identifies, reports, and corrects safety hazards. Updates procedures and checklists as required. Required to carry UT cell phone during work and on-call hours.Uses troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques to identify equipment problems. Performs routine and preventative maintenance on control systems. Lifts up to 50 pounds. May perform elevated work, including utilizing scaffolding and personnel lifts. May work in confined spaces. May operate cranes, forklifts, and personnel lifts. Drive UT vehicle. Maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy: UTS157 Section 2.5.4. May be required to report to work at Pickle Research Campus.Follow all University and UEM safety policies and procedures, take required safety training, and identify and report safety hazards. Perform work tasks in a safe manner, wear the proper personal protective equipment, and report near misses and incidentsAbide by Utilities and Energy Management's set of core values: Safety, Respect, Integrity, Reliability, Teamwork, and Excellence. Work effectively from a remote office or on campus.Performs other related functions as assigned. May attend staff meetings. Attends safety training or meetings.
