Description

The FP& A Analyst is responsible for overseeing a company's financial planning, budgeting, and accounting functions. Their primary duties include preparing financial reports, coordinating with the company’s leadership to develop budgets and financial plans, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, managing a team of financial analysts and accountants, and identifying opportunities for financial improvements. This role requires strong analytical skills, a good understanding of financial regulations, and managerial experience.

Responsibilities:

Evaluate budgets and purchases for capital improvement projects (CIP) and grants. Maintain and update CIP and grant records.

Record financial transactions through journal entries. Review journal entries for inconsistencies and possible irregularities.

Understand overall accounting functions and operations of the City.

Performs professional accounting functions in compliance with generally accepted accounting practices.

Coordinate and review the work of others in the finance department to complete financial projects.

Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and safety rules.

Become thoroughly familiar with every aspect of departmental processes.

Maintain confidentiality about all City business.

Requirements

Formal Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

Relatable Work Experience: Three (3) years of experience in a finance or accounting role.

Preferred Qualifications: Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) or a similar certification. Experience in municipal government accounting.
