Hyatt Director of Finance in AUSTIN, Texas

Description:

As a member of the property’s Leadership Committee, the Director of Finance is a highly visible role with exposure to Senior and Corporate leadership. This position reports to the hotel General Manager. The Director of Finance plans, organizes, directs, and controls the accounting and control function of the division, reports operational results, and provides chronological systems.

Duties include:

· Responsible for short- and long-term planning and the management of the Finance function

· Participate in total hotel management as a member of the Hotel Leadership Committee

· Manage and lead hotel on-site accounting functions to ensure proper fiscal management, timely and accurate reporting and analysis for the hotel. This responsibility also includes hotel financial planning, budgeting, accounting and cash management

· Assist in nurturing the important relationship with the owners. Be responsible for supervising and coordinating owner reporting as required. Provide custom reports, respond quickly to questions or requests and attend meetings

· Manage SOX compliance

· Complete the year-end audit process. Review and approve all reconciliations and audit work papers. Coordinate external auditor's visits, respond to auditor requests, approve any and all adjustments, reconcile the audit numbers to the property numbers and approve the final audit

· Prepare and review all monthly and annual financial statements. Investigate, review and analyze the variance explanations, involving the department managers in this process. Take initiative to manage trouble shooting for respective cost controls and revenue enhancement

· Aid in the preparation and final review of the annual business plans

· Supervise the Information Technology function. Additionally, have a sound understanding of the hotel operational and back office systems as well as Microsoft Office products

· Have a sound understanding of the forecasting system and the tools from Revenue Management. Review monthly and quarterly property financial forecasts. Assure that the forecast is attainable

· Coach and counsel colleagues to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree and/or 2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Hotel/Hospitality degree an asset

· Experience with opening resorts, previous hotel, wellbeing resort or resort pre-opening experience preferred

· Excellent guest service skills, verbal and written

· Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior role in a hotel or resort

· Professional presentation and demeanor

· Strong Leadership and organizational skills

· Thorough understanding of operating and management techniques as they apply to the spa and resort industry.

· Proven success in ensuring guest and colleague satisfaction

· Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively train, coach, evaluate, and correct employee behavior.

· Ability to travel occasionally on behalf of the company and to work flexible and extended hours as required by the operations of the resort

· Familiarization with resort industry success measures and strategies for product positioning and brand management

· Ability to write effective business communications, summaries and reports using both prescribed and creative formats

· Ability to effectively monitor and control expenses, allocate financial resources and maintain budget restrictions

· Accelerated decision-making and problem-solving abilities, utilizing factual information, company policies, and personal judgment through experience

· Strong organizational skills, with emphasis on attention to detail and continuous follow-up.

· Ability to multi-task, manages interruptions, establish work priorities, handle stress and effectively matriculate in a fast-paced, frequently-changing environment

· Strong computer skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
