Job Summary and Qualifications

The director is responsible for the overall effective operation of his/her department(s) to ensure organization goals and objectives are achieved. Participates in providing patient specific care standards as directed, and follows service excellence standards to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.

Imaging Leadership Responsibilities:

  • You will lead and oversee the Imaging Departments to ensure the quality of work.

  • You will monitor the job performance of each direct report.

  • You will ensure procedures and job-related activities are performed according to all technological standards.

  • You will conduct the orientation of new employees according to Orientation Checklist and Job Description.

  • You will teach and train staff, and recognize when others are in need of assistance.

  • You will initiate coaching effectively by enlisting improvement in a positive manner, orally or writing.

  • You will coordinate and prioritize the department workflow to ensure completion of work assignments.

  • You will assign workload to shift, taking in to consideration priority of the work and skill of employee

  • You will effectively organize and prioritize workflow; meets STAT and urgent demands.

  • You will ensure that all Imaging rooms and units are clean and supplies are stocked at all times.

  • You will oversee the completion of Incident Reports when warranted.

  • You will communicate with Radiologists, patients, physicians and others to achieve desired outcome.

  • You will demonstrate cost effective practices in the use of supplies, equipment and technical hours.

  • You will complete Imaging Quality Control and Performance Improvement functions, reports monthly for the Imaging Department and quarterly to the Radiation Safety Officer.

  • You will assist the Radiation Safety Officer by completing mandatory test and evaluations.

  • You will ensure all Physicists’ recommendation and State violations are addressed and brought into compliance in a timely manner.

  • You will ensure the Radioactive Material License is updated as needed.

  • You will contribute to the effective management of the Department.

  • You will assist in identifying problems and solutions to improve departmental activities.

  • You will ensure the availability of the Imaging Department 24 hours per day, taking full accountability for the Imaging call schedule.

  • You will ensure the Department is in compliance with all Regulations and ACR, FDA, and State Regulations, Policies and Procedures.

  • You will prepare departmental budget, projecting reasonable activity levels and expenses required to achieve approved net margin for work unit(s). Operates work unit(s) within approved budget.

  • You will maintain compliance with current regulation/requirements of outside regulatory/accrediting agencies and assures that new requirements are identified on a timely basis and coordinates hospital compliance.

  • You will demonstrate understanding of Process Improvement. Promotes the systematic assessment and improvement of performance. Continuously assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided by using information available from customers (i.e., patients, staff, physicians, and employees), to improve outcomes.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelor’s level graduate of an educational program in radiology accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or graduate of an American Medical Association approved program in Radiologic Technology or a military training program of equivalent standards.

  • 3-5 years Healthcare Management experience required.

  • Certified Texas Department of Health Medical Radiologic Technologist; Registered Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, post- primary certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ARRT). If hired prior to 4/13/12 and been performing x-rays since 1987 AND was grandfathered in by the state of Texas, only CMRT required.

  • BLS certification as per SDH policy.
