Role and Responsibilities

  • This position is for an experienced process engineer within the SAS facilities in Austin, TX. The individual selected for this position will participate in the development and implementation of advanced CVD equipment in a state of the art 300mm production facility. Projects will primarily involve optimization of existing processes, with continuous improvement of uptime, reduction of equipment generated defects, and improvement of process control.

  • Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking experienced Process and Quality engineer for CVD.

  • Challenges include defect reduction, process control and integration of CVD into leading edge devices while also auditing CVD department work in terms of maintaining specs.

  • Conduct defect, thickness and integration troubleshooting with CVD process and equipment engineers.

  • Conduct experiments and analyze data for process improvements.

  • Participating in fab to fab standardization activities, tool to tool matching, cost reduction, defect reduction, as well as manufacturing throughput improvement projects.

  • Respond to critical fab events that require containment speed and quick resolution to ensure minimal impact to product. Generate reports (such as 8D) illustrating root cause of incidents, corrective actions and future preventative measures.

  • Own NPI setup and technology transfers and process spread across tools.

  • Support fab-wide FMEA activities and improvements as required to minimize product risk.

  • Provide excursion management support.

  • Drive baseline SPC interlock reduction activities.

  • Support internal/external customer audits and activities.

  • Strong skills in logical and objective data analysis with an ability to establish and track metrics to meet department goals.

  • Detail oriented, maintain high level of accuracy, manage complex projects with shifting focus and priorities.

  • Actively participate with other engineering, production and support organizations for high volume production of leading edge logic devices.

  • Providing innovative real time quick response and solutions to line issues to help maintain manufacturing requirements while maintaining the highest level of quality.

  • Effective communication especially as priorities and circumstances change. Recognizes communication and task planning/passdowns are critical to maintaining a highly productive and team oriented environment.

  • Respectfully challenge status quo, assumptions, conclusions or quality standards to ensure correct decisions are being made.

  • Work days and hours: 1st Shift.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Process and knowledge and capability on one or more CVD AMAT Producer SE/GT, Lam Express/Extreme/ASM MIR3000/Wonik equipment

  • BS/MS Engineering - Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, or other science degreeMin 2 - 5+ years of related process and Quality experience

  • Provides strong defect troubleshooting and particle tracing analysis.

  • Experience in creating new recipes and intermediate to high proficiency in APC.

  • Audit conducting experience is a plus

  • SPC knowledge for troubleshooting interlocks and improvement activities.

  • This position is also responsible for setting NPI for entire department (New product Introduction) and technology transfer that’s includes knowledge on APC, Recipe creations etc.

  • Knowledge of process and system improvement is required as part of sustaining and continuous improvement of CVD methods

  • Provides technical leadership within the team.

  • Communicates technical information to executive leadership outside of the department through presentations.

  • Creates and evolves Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Reduces dynamic production bottlenecks.

  • Running DOE’s and Process Improvement conditions.

  • Basic scripting experience with Python and SQL.
