Emerson Chief Product Manager – LabVIEW in Austin, Texas

The Principal Product Manager (PM) in the Software BU is responsible for defining and evaluating features and functionalities of NI's Test software products. The PM collaborates with teams and other roles to deliver valuable features in NI's flagship software.

As the PM for LabVIEW, you’ll have the opportunity to continue to drive 35+ years of innovation in NI's flagship software product. You'll address sophisticated problems that our customers experience in their engineering workflows, with a focus on our Electronics, Electromechanical and Embedded SW Test application areas. Internally, you will champion the needs of our 35,000 customers and collaborate with teams across R&D, the Business Units and several other functions to achieve our business goals and improve our customers' experience. Externally, you will be the face of LabVIEW, interviewing customers, sharing roadmaps, and communicating how NI is bringing our vision for the future to life in our products.

As a LabVIEW Product Manager, you will be in charge of developing and implementing software capabilities that can be easily marketed, enhance customer happiness, and improve profitability. We also value equivalent experience in lieu of educational qualifications. Additionally, you will have a key role in defining the future of our Test Software platform and how it intersects with growing trends in Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and human-in-the-loop models of software abstraction.

What you will do in this role:

Understand market trends and the competitive landscape, with an in-depth understanding of LabVIEW, and create a product vision while prioritizing new features and requirements. Act as a domain authority and understand the individual customer requirements carefully to create functional specifications, use cases, mock-ups and other documents required for the development team to get going. Explain functional requirements to the development team. Ensure solutions are crafted and developed effectively to meet the business goals of the end user. Validate/test the newly developed features and their impact on existing features. Present these new features to essential team members and gather their feedback. Work with UX team to create a pleasant user experience. Be a key liaison between the customers, sales, consulting, and development teams, facilitating effective communication and coordination. Act as an SME to reviews the training material and product documentation. Support BU Business Management in marketing and sales strategies including pricing, sales enablement, and customer training. Help Sales, Solutions Marketing, CCS and BU teams to support RFPs, RFQs, ongoing implementations and customer demos (preparation / delivery). As SME, act as the first respondent for any functional queries or issues from internal and external teams

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in Product Management or Business Development

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.

  • Strong communication with ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.

  • Familiarity with LabVIEW, along with NI's test hardware and software products

  • Proficient in analyzing and solving problems, with a focus on delivering strategy and value that will generate tangible results.

  • Demonstrated track record of crafting a case for product investments and defining metrics to track performance over time.

  • Able to take ambiguous goals and turn them into clear action plans

  • Tight-knit collaboration in and outside of project team; influences without direct authority.

  • Experience in AI, machine learning, or related fields
