The Category Buyer is responsible for the company-wide management of purchasing Spares and services for Operations. Be the front-end contact and support for operations across the Americas. Ability to manage of spare parts and services for wind (onshore and off-shore), solar, and energy storage electric generating facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Day to Day management of Purchasing activities which includes the parts and services associated with installing the parts for the RWE Clean Energy business encompassing onshore, offshore wind farms, and solar farms in the Americas
The focus shall be to achieve the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) for parts
Ensure compliance with Procurement policy and processes
Track and ensure achievement of forecasted value and savings targets including productivity plans with suppliers, and clearing of Purchase requisitions daily
Ensure interfaces with Key internal stakeholders to optimize the cost & efficiencies of each operational site
Ensure day-to-day management of Requests and develop the scope of work jointly with internal customers to mitigate risks
Drive negotiations to the point of contract award with the technical / asset management teams
Build and maintain effective supplier relationships to ensure that their performance consistently meets, and at times exceeds business expectations
Develop strong and effective internal relationships with all levels of the business to ensure that business requirements are reflected within contractual documentation
Supplier management, negotiations for key contracts, and claim management / negotiations with suppliers
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree required, Engineering degree will be an advantage
Minimum 5 years experience in Procurement required, with at least 7 years preferred (post degree) working experience in construction, energy, chemical, or other industry with large, capital investment projects, with a focus on procurement or contract management.
First-hand experience with Purchasing and contracts
Familiarity with working on SAP ERP systems to develop an efficient process for ordering and tracking spare parts – hands-on experience desired in SAP
Background Engineer/Technical, Business Administration, Legal or Economics. However, a track record of success is more important than former positions or educational background
Fluent English speaker. German / Spanish or other language skills would be an advantage
Willingness to travel in North America as required
Good problem-identification and solving skills
Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate at a high level with internal and external decision-makers
Ability to influence people and decisions to drive high performance and result orientation
Lead projects of moderate scope and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Very strong commercial acumen and ability to develop cost models and cost-benefit analysis
Ability to work within tight deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE office and field locations
Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time
This position is a hybrid role based out of our Austin, TX office.
