UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN Assistant Director Sustainability in Austin, Texas

Provides training sessions, scholastic presentations, educational resources, curriculum, and ultimately serves as an educational resource for all areas of UHD and its affiliates in regard to sustainability.Consistently develops or reexamines UHD sustainability projects and processes. Provides purchasing initiatives in regard to food following Menus of Change Principles and paper products. Initiates and maintains educational engagement with various UT Departments, utilizing UT Dining and Housing as living laboratories around sustainability that get documented and published, highlighting Menus of Change initiatives at UT. Researches, maintains competent knowledge of, and upholds applicable UHD specific data tracking of waste diversion, collegiate food service, and housing trends related to sustainability. Oversees sustainability initiatives within residence life including Eco-Reps and the Sustainability Living Learning Community.Researches, maintains competent knowledge of, and upholds applicable UHD specific data tracking of waste management, natural resource management, local/sustainable agriculture, small-scale food production, collegiate food service, and housing trends related to sustainability. Coordinates the monitoring and maintenance of the UHD gardens, as well as relationships with other campus food-growing groups, and/or support organizations.Recruits, interviews, hires, and oversees full-time staff, part-time staff, UT Farm Stand students, and sustainability interns. Other projects as assigned. Develop marketing materials to educate and broadcast UHDs sustainability efforts. Ensures that marketing around sustainability is present in all dining facilities, maintained and rotated on a quarterly basis. Works to have sustainability wall prints advertising UT Dining efforts and achievements in all units. Maintains UHD presence on campus and beyond as a leader in higher education sustainability through representing the division in sustainability related meetings, committees, and collaborative projects. Shares UHD's sustainability projects in monthly newsletter, on resident and dining hall boards, with media, and various non-UT campus connections such as social media.
