Job Summary and Qualifications
As an Anesthesia Technician in the Labor and Delivery Operating Room, you will assist in the care and preparation of the surgical patient for anesthesia. You will assist the Anesthesiologist when needed and requested. You will also participate in the care and cleaning of operating room equipment, anesthesia equipment, and Labor and Delivery operating room suites.
You will determine priority in equipment needs and ensure availability, and assume responsibility for supply and equipment management
You will assist in the maintenance of instruments and equipment by proper utilization, cleaning care, and sterilization
You will report damaged or unsafe equipment
You will perform patient care within the scope of training of the Anesthesia Technician and under direction of the Registered Nurse
You will prepare for each procedure and/or surgery
You will note changes in individual Anesthesiologist preferences and anticipate their needs during procedures
You will maintain a safe environment for surgical patients by checking the condition and operation of anesthesia equipment before procedures
You will initiate and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures
You will perform intra-operative management of assigned procedures
You will assist with post procedure workload, including Labor and Delivery operating room sanitization
You will set up vaginal delivery tables as needed and assist with stocking of Labor and Delivery operating rooms and Labor and Delivery suite
What qualifications you will need:
Experience
Knowledge of surgical intervention terminology and/or anesthesia equipment and supplies applicable to procedures - preferred
Minimum of 1 related year of experience or training - preferred
Education
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
Licenses and Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
