Mayo Clinic Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Emergency Medicine (SEMN) in Austin, Minnesota
Responsibilities
The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking to hire additional Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to join our Minnesota practice.
The practice includes ERs in Austin, Albert Lea, Cannon Falls, Red Wing, Lake City, Mankato, Fairmont, Waseca, and St. James.
Austin: 22,000 patients annually
Albert Lea: 17,500 patients annually
Cannon Falls: 5,000 patients annually
Red Wing: 16,000 patients annually
Lake City: 3,800 patients annually
Mankato: 35,000 patients annually
Fairmont: 13,500 patients annually
Waseca: 6,500 patients annually
St. James: 3,500 patients annually
Our current need is mainly in the Albert Lea, MN, Austin, MN, and Mankato, MN Emergency Medicine departments; however, it is expected to be capable of working in the other sites in the future. These positions provide the opportunity to join and further develop high quality health care delivery teams with commitment to practice, education and research. The Mankato/Austin/Rochester site are the main training and orientation sites for Mayo Clinic’s EM NP/PAs within Minnesota. NP/PAs provides 24/7 practice coverage alongside their physician colleagues at most sites. The NP/PA serves as an independent provider, collaborates with physicians and works with a variety of other healthcare professionals.
The NP/PA will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacological agents, and patient education. The NP/PA will also perform a variety of procedures including laceration repair, I&D, lumbar puncture, intubation, non-invasive airway management, fracture reductions, procedural sedation, critical care management, etc. with opportunities to work in solo practice at critical access hospitals.

Shifts range from 8 to 13 hours
455 clinical hours a quarter

Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN and APRN license and certification as a:
Family Nurse Practitioner Certification (FNP)
Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification (ANP)
Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (ACNP)
Emergency Nurse Practitioner Certification (ENP)
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.
Registration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) is required. BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS is required but can be obtained after start.
