Nature of Work

Description of the Research Project that this position will work on:

This position will focus on understanding the molecular mechanism of pre-mRNA splicing and its role in disease processes. Candidates will be expected to plan and execute independent experiments, assist in the writing and publication of experimental results and grant applications, and contribute positively towards the atmosphere and culture of the lab.

Mentor junior scientists in the lab in their scientific development.

Examples of Work Performed

The research duties are:

Design and implementation of molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemical experiments to understand the mechanism of pre-mRNA splicing as well as the structure and function of spliceosome and its components.

Prepare manuscript for publication.

Participate in grant applications.

Present scientific at various seminars and meetings.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at $60,000 - $70,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • PhD in biology-related field

  • Experience in molecular biology, cell culture, and biochemical techniques

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledgeable in molecular biology and biochemistry.

  • Highly motivated

  • Ample scientific curiosity

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Able to contribute in a positive manner to the collegial atmosphere of the laboratory and the department

  • Be able to direct independent research, and mentor more junior lab members.

  • Excellent communication skills
