Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead/manage tasks for qualitative data collection for basic methods (interviews and focus groups), such as recruitment, participant consenting and payment under frequent guidance of PI and Qualitative Methodologist

  • Develop and maintain Institutional Review Board applications, amendments, and continuing review documents for qualitative aims on study projects

  • Develop and maintain qualitative datasets, including entering, tracking, cleaning and preparing transcripts for analyses

  • Support qualitative analysis including query summary planning, compiling query summaries/matrix summaries, under significant guidance of the PI and Qualitative Methodologist

  • May assist Qualitative and Mixed Methods Research Core with developing or develop protocol-specific systems and documents including process flows, training manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Maintains subject level documentation and prepares documents, equipment and/or supplies

  • May assist Qualitative and Mixed Methods Research Core with identifying issues related to operational efficiency and shares results with leadership

Minimum Qualifications:

Intermediate:

  • One (1) years of experience in data collection, coding, team-based coding and codebook development, and basic analysis of qualitative data using rigorous methods.

Senior:

  • Two (2) years of extensive experience with data collection, coding, leading team-based coding and codebook development, and analyzing qualitative data using rigorous methods. Experience with data management software, including project administration, with software programs, such as ATLAS.ti

Preferred Qualifications:

Intermediate Professional:

  • Master's degree in science or health related field

  • Three (3) years of qualitative data collection, coding, and analysis experience using rigorous methods, which includes clinical research or related experience

  • Previous experience in research/evaluation project coordination, qualitative data collection and coding

  • Proficiency with qualitative data management software, such as ATLAS.ti

  • Experience in public health or health services research

  • Experience submitting protocols to an institutional review board (IRB)

  • Experience with reference management software

  • Experience with budget management

  • Previous employment in a university environment

  • Experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g. EMR or EHR and data management systems)

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish, written and oral

Senior Professional:

  • Master's degree in science or health related field

  • Five (5) years of qualitative data collection, coding, and analysis experience using rigorous methods, which includes clinical research or related experience

  • Previous experience in research/evaluation project coordination, developing qualitative data collection instruments, codebook development, coding, and summarizing of qualitative data

  • Expertise with qualitative data management software, such as ATLAS.ti

  • Experience with co-moderating or moderating focus groups

  • Experience in public health or health services research

  • Experience submitting protocols to an institutional review board (IRB)

  • Experience as a project manager and with budget management

  • Experience with reference management software

  • Previous employment in a university environment

  • Experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g. EMR or EHR and data management systems)

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish, written and oral

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with recruitment and enrollment of research participants

  • Comfortable working with patients, caregivers/family members, providers, and community stakeholders

  • Experience/Proficiency with qualitative research data collection, including leading focus groups and conducting interviews

  • Proficiency co-developing qualitative data collection instruments

  • Proficiency in coding and experience in leading codebook development

  • Experience co-developing/developing analytic plan, leading query/matrix summaries, and involvement in additional analyses including thematic content analysis

  • Experience running reports/queries

  • Strong knowledge of basic qualitative methods in medical research

  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems and apply qualitative analytical approaches, including query and matrix summaries

  • Experience summarizing and communicating study findings

  • Demonstrated competency/proficiency in one or more data management programs (e.g., ATLAS.ti, NVivo, Maxqda,) and willingness to learn new data management software as necessary

  • Familiarity/Experience with qualitative analytical concepts and methods

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution

  • Outstanding customer service skills

  • Effective time management skills

The Adult and Child Center for Health Outcomes Research and Delivery Science (ACCORDS) has an opening for a full-time Research Services Intermediate/Senior Clinical Science Professional who has experience with qualitative research methods. ACCORDS has a portfolio of research studies focused on health services research or implementation science that engage diverse patient populations, healthcare providers, and community stakeholders. This position will work on practice- and community-based research projects and will provide research support by assisting with qualitative data collection, coding, tool development, regulatory needs, analysis, and reporting. The position may also involve assisting with general project needs, such as staffing, budget management, and other duties as determined by study Principal Investigators. The ideal candidate will have experience and training in qualitative research data collection, coding and analysis, working on teams, and experience with developing and submitting institutional review board protocols for pragmatic trials or health services research studies.

  • this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of #2-3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.
