Job Overview

The Child life Program Coordinator (CL PC) works in healthcare and community settings to address and educate others on the psychosocial, emotional, and family concerns that accompany the illness and injury of infants, children, and youth. The CL PC oversees programs and projects assigned by child life leadership and serves as content experts for those programs. The CL PC takes an active role in developing and maintaining resources, planning, facilitating special events, and providing educational opportunities throughout Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) and the community.In addition, the CL PC works closely with the child life leadership team, providing unique insight and perspective.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related fields. Experience: Three (3) years previous experience in providing child life services in a healthcare setting. Equivalency: Master or higher degree in a related field may substitute for the experience requirements on a year for year basis. Certification(s): Current Child Life Professional Certification (CCLS)

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE Neonate - 30 days to 1yr Toddlers - >1yr to 3yrs Pre-Schoolers - >3yrs to 5yrs School age - >5yrs to 13yrs Adolescent - >13yrs to 18yrs Adult - >18yrs to 65yrs ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples do not include all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform. Leads/oversees child life department programs and processes as assigned by child life leadership. Provides exemplary child life care to patients and families, including conducting coping/needs assessments, facilitating therapeutic interventions, creating individualized care plans, and communi ating patient/family needs with the multidisciplinary teams and in the medical record Supports department team members in providing direct patient care by demonstrating expert clinical knowledge and promoting the application of the clinical best practices and professional standards in daily work. Champions clinical practice and professional growth by working with child life leadership to meet the educational needs of the department and by monitoring and participating in the assessment of basic clinical competencies.
