Arapahoe County Government Business Support Specialist (Intake/Community Services) - Hy in Aurora, Colorado

ACDHS uses an integrated Two-Generation (2Gen) approach to address the entire family unit's basic human services needs. The 2Gen approach begins with a mindset focused on family-centered program design. It continues with the alignment of services and resources within the department and across multiple organizations, resulting in coordinated services to children and adults together (family) to create long-term stability and sustainability.

The 2Gen approach builds well-being for families by focusing equally and intentionally on high-quality services in five areas of focus: early childhood education, adult education and employment pathways, economic security, health and well-being, and social capital. This approach will help us achieve our core mission of breaking the generational cycle of poverty, preventing neglect and abuse, and building strong communities.

The Business Support Specialist performs a variety of tasks, under limited supervision, to administratively support the Child and Adult Protection Services (CAPS) Division. Typically, each individual will specialize in one role, and duties may rotate based on business needs. Duties DUTIES: * Act as a liaison between the Administrative Support area and CAPS and other Human Services departments while providing direct clerical support to designated program areas. * Collects, reviews, analyzes complex and/or confidential data and prepares reports, charts, and other presentation materials. * Responds to, or routes non-routine or confidential inquiries from external or internal sources with correspondence or other messaging. * Takes lead on special projects and participates in program areas process improvements. * Records meetings/takes notes as needed. * Takes lead on establishing community connections and resources for CAPS. * Acts as a liaison between CAPS and external community partners to share or request information/records. * Schedules and coordinates meetings/events. * Purchases/orders office supplies and tracks other expenses.

REQUIREMENTS: Skills, Abilities and Competencies: * Knowledge of basic office procedures and equipment; ability to learn various computer software applications, i.e., CBMS, TRAILS, VISION, ICM, etc. and a demonstrated proficiency with Word, Outlook and Excel software programs is required. Must be able to type 50 wpm. * Ability to demonstrate fiscal responsibility. * Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and demonstrate leadership skills. * Ability to effectively maintain a high level of communication skills both verbally and in writing and pay high attention to detail. * Ability to effectively make independent decisions, multi-task, prioritize and utilize critical thinking skills. * Complete 20 hours of relevant training per year.

Requirements Education and Experience: * High School or GED equivalent * 4+ years' experience working with the public in a service-related field. * Any equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job will be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience: * Experience with Child Welfare best practice standards * Experience with related State/Federal Regulations * Experience with Trails database systems and related Human Services databases Supplemental Information Pre-Employment Additional Requirements: * Must successfully pass pre-employment testing which includes an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) and background check. Possession of a valid Class "R" Colorado Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within two weeks of appointment.

Post-Employment Requirements: * Security clearance required: will require fingerprinting and a Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) background check.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: * Work is generally confined to a standard office environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position. * Spends 80% of the time sitting and 20% of the time either standing or walking. * Occasionally lifts, carries, pulls or pushes up to 20 lbs. * Occasionally uses cart, dolly, or other equipment to carry in excess of 20 lbs. * Occasionally climbs, stoops, kneels, balances, reaches, crawls and crouches while performing office or work duties. * Verbal and auditory capacity enabling constant interpersonal communication through automated devices, such as telephones, radios, and similar; and in public meetings and personal interactions.
