BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:As a Resource Administrator for the Department of Marine Resources, you will act as a primary Federal Aid Coordinator for all grants. Consistent with rules and policies promulgated by the Office of the State Controller and other central control agencies, you will be responsible for developing and overseeing appropriate processes and controls over significant financial resources and any revenue stream at the Department.

This position is primarily responsible for:

  • Managing a portion of the grant process from intake to closeout and interacting with a subset of program managers on their grants, including quarterly review of expenditures and obligations, and facilitating timely reporting.

  • Regular communication, coordination and collaboration with DMR Resource Administrators performing grants management responsibilities in parallel.

  • Capacity building for grants management within the Bureaus.

  • Analyzing financial policies and procedures and recommending appropriate modifications.

  • Improving efficiency, economy, and control of agency financial operations.

  • Maintaining a key role in daily and weekly team workflow including grants invoicing, approvals of invoices, and contracts, and risk management tasks.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES PREFERRED:

  • Have the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.

  • Communicate effectively with their supervisor and team members.

  • Possess a basic understanding of accounting practices and controls.

  • Be able to work collaboratively with diverse group dynamics.

  • Be able to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.

  • Have a mature comprehension of applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures and be able to interpret and apply associated principles.

While the primary position work location is in Augusta, there may be opportunity for occasional remote work within a structured work plan with management approval.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A five (5) year combination of education and experience in providing leadership to executive management on fiscal, budgetary, and internal control development and implementation. Education must be in the area of finance or public administration at the post-secondary level.

Professional work must include experience in any of the following areas:Financial management, budgetary development, report development and management, internal control policy development, administrative procedures policy development.
