Maine Veterans' Homes Per diem Relief Cooks in Augusta, Maine

Job Descriptions:

The per diem Relief Cook helps to cover the House Chef's absence, to include weekends, holidays and vacations.

The Relief Cook is responsible for safe food handling practices in accordance with sanitation/infection control and universal precaution procedures, preparation of lunch and dinner for the house, and assisting with the therapeutic nutritional needs of the residents. This position also assists the House Chef in working with the residents to develop the household menus and special food orders. Each household will always have various food items on hand that the residents may choose in lieu of the menu items.

Required Experience:

  • Must have at least 2-3 years of formal cooking experience, scratch cooking experience a plus.

  • Current ServSafe Certification preferred.

  • Ability to read, write and communicate proficiently in English

  • Basic computer skills
