MaineGeneral Health Patient Services Representative - Horizon Clinic, Full-time in Augusta, Maine

The Role:

As a Patient Service Representative (PSR) at MaineGeneral Health's Horizon Clinic, you will play a crucial role in our patients' healthcare journey. You will be the first point of contact for patients, helping to create a welcoming and efficient experience.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and visitors with a warm and welcoming demeanor.

  • Answer phone calls and provide necessary information or direct calls to the appropriate departments.

  • Perform various clerical duties to support the clinical team, ensuring smooth operations.

  • Schedule and manage appointment times using our computerized scheduling system.

  • Verify insurance benefits and obtain precertification/authorization when necessary.

  • Determine and accept required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, and refer patients to financial counselors as needed.

  • Accurately enter and maintain demographic, billing, and clinical information in the registration system.

  • Handle medical referrals and follow-ups, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to provide comprehensive patient care.

  • Assist with data entry, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to be flexible and shift priorities quickly in response to changing needs.

  • Strong attention to detail, especially in managing medical referrals, follow-ups, and data entry.

  • Experience in a customer service role, medical office, retail, or any position that required multitasking and independent work is a plus.
