Position Summary:
The Director of Accounting will lead all domestic accounting operations within the organization. This role will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and the effectiveness of accounting processes. The Director of Accounting will lead the domestic accounting team, provide strategic financial insights, and collaborate with cross-functional departments to support organizational growth and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
Ensure the timely preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
Ensure that internal controls, and timelines, are effectively designed and adhered to in order to safeguard the company’s assets.
Prepare ad hoc reporting to aid in the analysis of monthly financial results.
Coordinate and support external auditors and the tax department during annual audits, addressing any audit findings and ensuring timely resolution.
Accounting Operations:
Direct the day-to-day operations of the domestic general ledger accounting department.
Hands-on development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency of close process and ensure accuracy of monthly financial results.
Initiate and lead recuring meetings cross-functionally to ensure accurate monthly financial results; including but not limited to coding education sessions, communication of common coding errors/pitfalls, and monthly pre-close meetings with key stakeholders (and/or FP&A) to establish accurate and timely accruals.
Collaborate with finance counterparts (international accounting, financial operations, and FP&A teams) to ensure consistent and accurate policies and procedures.
Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly variance analysis.
Strategic Financial Leadership:
Collaborate with senior management to provide financial analysis, support FP&A with budgets and forecasts, as well as recommendations that drive business strategy and decision-making.
Work closely with FP&A and the Domestic Controller to analyze financial trends, identify opportunities for cost savings, and optimize financial performance.
Review financial reports for accuracy, including variance analysis.
Process Improvement & Automation:
Identify and implement process improvement and automation solutions to streamline accounting workflows, enhance accuracy, and reduce manual effort.
Lead cross-functional process optimization.
Stay updated on accounting software and technology trends, recommending tools or systems to improve efficiency.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, ensuring the team is effectively aligned with department and company goals.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, encouraging continuous improvement and professional growth.
Establish performance objectives and provide ongoing feedback to ensure high levels of performance and accountability.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation preferred.
Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (preferred).
Experience:
Minimum of 8-10 years of accounting experience, with at least 6 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Proven experience in managing a team and leading accounting functions in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Experience working closely with financial planning and analysis (FP&A) is highly desirable.

Ensures Compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance as it applies to your role

Skills & Competencies:
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
Exceptional attention to detail and high level of accuracy in financial reporting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and levels of the organization.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with Onestream, Sage 500 and Microsoft D365 is desirable.
