May 25, 2023 Job Details Job Location:Rigaku Innovative Technologies Inc - Auburn Hills, MI Position Type:Full Time Description Rigaku Innovative Technologies, Inc. (RIT) a subsidiary of Rigaku Americas Holding, is seeking an early-mid career Mechanical Engineer in our Auburn Hills office. This position will support the daily activities of the Quality & Manufacturing Departments and contribute significantly to on-going tooling and product development projects. The position offers a diverse range of project-based work that typically include elements of high-precision mechanical design, designing for high vacuum, cleanroom compatibility, basic electromechanics, metrology, and x-ray science.

Responsibilities: Support Quality and Manufacturings daily activities Analyze mechanical designs and drawings, identifying areas of critical fitment to make sound judgements about receiving inspection and non-conformance occurrences. Devise and document machine modifications for in-house rework to meet production demands and deadlines. Drive engineering changes and collaborate with the Manufacturing Dept. to implement design improvements into production. Mechanical Engineering & Design: Design, build, and test Opto & Electromechanical parts and assemblies. Utilize FEA to quantify and optimize mechanical performance for a variety of applications. Collaborate with scientists & other engineers in the R&D group to turn new technologies into refined products & processes. Mitigate risk in design by studying prior art and adapting proven concepts to meet new requirements. Apply knowledge of metallurgy, surface quality control, kinematic design, DFA, and DFM to bring new products and features to market in a cost-effective manner. Generate mechanical drawings and detail for manufacturing with GD&T, per ASME Y14.5-2009. Prepare documentation, participate in, and provide technical support for prototype builds & manufacturing releases. Serve as a product knowledge resource and in-house design/engineering service for Operations and Sales Design specialized production tooling. Aid in new process development. Provide conceptual modeling & product rendering services. Estimate NRE & material costs for SoWs and Custom Orders.

Qualifications: Minimum Degree & Experience Criteria:(Required) BS in Mechanical Engineering or other related fields 2+ Years of professional work experience Recent graduates with strong internship experience are also encouraged to apply Associate degreewith 4+ years of work experience in related fields may also be considered. Possesses basic competency with 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawing(Required) Minimum 1yr of experience with CAD software SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM experience ispreferred Fundamental understanding of GD&T ispreferred Familiarity with engineering workflows and design practices tailored to small enterprises and small volume products is preferred Experience with high-precision machining and optomechanical engineering is preferred Good knowledge of physics, mathematics and root-cause analysis is strongly is preferred Good mechanical inclination and hands-on prototyping ability is strongly preferred Experience in the field of x-ray diffraction and/or scientific instrument design & manufacturing is strongly preferred. Must be able to meet minimum qualifications to apply.
