As a buyer, you will be playing a vital role in the procurement and logistics team in Business Area (BA) Function Operations, Quality and HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) within Robotics and Discrete Automation Auburn Hills, Michigan. In this role you will be playing a vital role in the procurement team supporting our Industries business line. Project Procurement consists of the timely and cost effective acquisition of quality materials, supplies and resources necessary. It also includes coordinating with associated groups and leading the resolution of purchasing problemsYour responsibilities
Purchasing materials according to required technical specifications, price, delivery schedule and terms, negotiating with main suppliers and periodically renewing price lists, terms and conditions Initiating purchase orders according to the purchase requisitions and in alignment with standard procedures Overseeing supplier performance (on time delivery, quality, lead time) and resolving performance issues Identifying and qualifying new suppliers together with supplier quality and engineering specialists Aligning supplier orders with customer requirements in terms of content, quality, delivery, sustainability and priceYour background
A Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration or related focus and a minimum of 8 years experience in Supply Chain as a buyer, preferable in project based procurement Demonstrated experience working with enterprise resource planning and standard operating procedures Previous experience with projects with strong negotiation skills Knowledge of supply base supporting robotics, automation, conveyors, welding applications Knowledge of SAP and MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) Knowledge of suppliers; welding/cutting, conveyors, installation, programming are a plus Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the USMore about us ABB Robotics & Discrete Automation is a pioneer in robotics, machine automation and digital services, providing innovative solutions for a diverse range of industries, from automotive to electronics to logistics.
