Capgemini Associate Mechanical & Physical Engineer - Automotive E-Motors Design & Release Engineer in Auburn Hills, Michigan

Job description :

We are seeking an Associate Design & Release Engineer to join our team. This role involves working closely with different teams to chip into the design, engineering and production of E-Motor products. The ideal candidate should have experience in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics preferably in the Automotive sector.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate closely with multi-functional teams to ensure E-Motors components meet performance, safety, and quality standards, while contributing to the overall vehicle objectives.

  • Develop, maintain, and lead Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) and Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) documents for cooling components, ensuring comprehensive validation and risk management.

  • Lead efforts to achieve program timing turning points by effectively coordinating tasks, resources, and activities within the project timeline.

  • Use expertise in software tools including NX, Vis Mockup, and Teamcenter to craft, visualize, and communicate component designs effectively.

  • Apply Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies to improve the quality, reliability, and performance of E-Motors components.

  • Take a leadership role in encouraging positive relationships with suppliers, ensuring alignment with project goals and delivery of high-quality components.

  • Collaborate seamlessly with manufacturing, testing, and quality teams to integrate cooling components into the vehicle architecture.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and standard processes related to automotive cooling systems.

  • Support Benchmarking of driven vehicles, lead cost value analysis.

  • Lead warranty analysis, resolution of field issues post launch.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics from an ABET accredited university.

  • Experience in automotive engineering with a focus on electrified vehicles (1-3 years preferred).

  • Knowledge of E-Motors and Electric Drive Modules for Electric Vehicles.

  • Proficiency in CATIA V5 and Uni graphics NX for component design and modeling.

  • Experience with Vis Mockup and Teamcenter for collaborative design and visualization.

  • Familiarity with Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools and techniques.

  • Proven knowledge of Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes.

  • Ability to build, maintain, and lead DVP&R and DFMEA documents to ensure component quality and reliability.

  • Proven project management skills, ensuring consistency to program timing turning points.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate successfully within multi-functional teams.

  • Strong leadership capabilities for maintaining relationships with suppliers.

  • Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) principles is advantageous.
