We are looking for a Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician to join our Catalyst team in Attapulgus, GA.

BASF’s Catalysts division is the global market leader in catalyst technologies. The division develops and produces mobile emissions catalysts as well as process catalysts and offers precious metals trading, recycling and related products and services.

In this role, you will be responsible for completing quality control and assurance testing of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products, in a safe manner, for the BASF Attapulgus, Georgia site within the scope of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and RCMS Management System in compliance with all certification requirements. The person in this role will also evaluate data using appropriate software to ensure the results meet internal and external specifications. The appropriate person(s) will be notified timely when testing results do not meet required specifications. Support of ongoing continuous improvement of lab and plant processes through QA/QC activities to meet and/or exceed customer expectations is an integral characteristic of this role.

During your 12-hour rotating shift as a Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician, you will

  • Complete the verification protocol for instruments and standardize solutions according to documented procedures as well as the required records.

  • Complete routine sample analysis following documented methods and communicating with Operators and Supervisors about the quality of material.

  • Maintain chemical standards documentation and ensure re-certification is completed and documented as needed.

  • Troubleshoot and participate in root cause analysis.

  • Report atypical sample or equipment behavior to supervisor

  • Perform additional duties which a Laboratory Technician may carry out include routine chemical reactions or bench-scale tests of plant processes; sample collection in the plant; environmental monitoring; or plant analytical instrumentation maintenance/verification.

  • Utilize equipment and data software programs

  • Monitor and interpret SPC charts and take appropriate action.

  • Optimize existing procedures through Measurement System Analysis or other means.

  • Conformance to ISO/RCMS requirements

  • Perform assigned duties as outlined by supervisor, management, or designee.

If you...

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 2 years working experience in a laboratory setting

  • Developed understanding of general chemistry and laboratory safety.

  • Developed computer skills using software packages such as Microsoft Office, LIMS, SAP

  • Ability to follow a 12-hour rotating shift schedule and overtime when require.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Good communication skills (oral and written)
