Legal Assistant (Casino Defense Litigation) Location: Atlantic City, NJ Seeking a Legal Assistant who is highly professional and experienced in Defense Litigation. Must be well versed in preparing all types of legal documents and exhibits, and e-filing with the courts.
RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provides confidential administrative support to attorneys. * Receives, sorts, and distributes incoming mail, faxes and deliveries. * Performs typing assignments, transcribes dictation involving legal terminology. * Establishes, maintains, processes, and oversees files, correspondence, databases, records, certificates and/or other documents. * Schedules appointments and performs other duties related to maintaining attorney schedules. May schedule and coordinate meetings and conferences, arranges for conferences and teleconferences. * Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: * A minimum of 1 year prior experience, preferred. Prior experience in casino defense litigation and/or employment law strongly preferred. * Knowledge of standard office procedures, computers, and related software applications * Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures * Ability to create, compose and edit written communications and materials. * Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing * Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a broad range of clients in a diverse community. * Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel * Experience with NetDocs, a plus * Organized and task-oriented to ensure deadlines are met. * Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information. * Professional in appearance and manner * Strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures with the ability to prepare all types of legal documents and handle transcription, calendaring, and e-filing with the courts. * Must be able to multi-task, work well under pressure, and manage time effectively to meet all deadlines. * Must have relevant work experience and excellent work history.
