Chick-fil-A Sr. Product Lead - Inventory Strategy in Atlanta, Georgia

Overview

The Sr. Product Lead, Inventory Strategy will lead innovative activities to automate capturing and collecting restaurant inventory data. They will assist with optimizing inventory levels and defining the replenishment strategy for new and existing nodes within Chick-fil-A’s Supply Chain. This role will be responsible for setting and maintaining inventory parameters, creating or enhancing replenishment logic and algorithms, minimizing product waste while ensuring high in-stock rates, and developing key performance indicators to measure adherence to inventory parameters and their impacts on restaurant and business objectives. This role will also be responsible for advising restaurants and Chick-fil-A Field Staff on in-Restaurant Inventory Management best practices.

This role will serve as the In-Restaurant Inventory Product Owner supporting the build and rollout of the new Supply Chain back-office system, Signal. As the Inventory Product Owner, this role will be responsible for developing product requirements to improve on-hand inventory accuracy and address waste in current state inventory processes in alignment with restaurant and business objectives. The Inventory Product Owner will work with a cross-functional team to prioritize the product requirement backlog, support the development process, test functionality, and plan releases to Signal restaurants.

Additionally, this role will directly oversee the day-to-day inventory performance of pilot location concepts within the Supply Chain – quickly root causing exceptions and executing any needed changes and parameter updates to ensure smooth operations. This role will work closely with multiple cross-functional stakeholders in Distribution Center Operations and Transportation to align inventory strategy with operational constraints.

This role is a part of the PLAN value chain within Chick-fil-A’s Supply Chain organization. PLAN sits at the beginning of the Supply Chain operational flow and is responsible for ensuring the creation, setup, and maintenance of all necessary inputs to enable proper product to flow to the restaurants. These include areas such as demand and supply planning, replenishment algorithms, channel management, limited time offering buys, and distribution center and restaurant inventory management.

Responsibilities

The person who fills this role will be expected to do the following as a part of their regular work responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships and becoming trusted partner of key business stakeholders and restaurants

  • Collect and utilize the voice of the restaurant and business to transform requirements into actionable deliverables

  • Identify cross-functional dependencies and coordinate work with appropriate stakeholders

  • Create, manage, communicate, and execute a project plan while balancing decisiveness with collaboration

  • Identify enhancements to existing restaurant and distribution center replenishment logic and perpetual on-hand calculations

  • Query relevant data to create basic models to back test any new logic and estimate restaurant impact in collaboration with analytic partners

  • Actively manage replenishment logic and outcomes for new restaurant or distribution concepts

  • Design and lead restaurant pilots for any new enhancements – working with key partners to solve for communication and training materials, store support channels, location selection strategy, and measuring results

  • Build relationships and solicit feedback directly from restaurant Operators to understand current store replenishment needs and pain points

  • Engage with Chick-fil-A subsidiaries and other Supply Chain partners to ensure full alignment on strategy and execution

Minimum Qualifications

  • Firm foundation in data analysis and associated software and tools, such as Data Manipulation, Visualization, and Modeling Techniques

  • Ability to understand and communicate analytics output and insights to a broad business audience

  • Deep understanding of supply chain or inventory management

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and verbal / written communication skills

  • Attention to detail with a proactive, self-starter mentality

  • Creativity to push for continuous improvements within established systems and processes

  • Ability to partner and influence across functional areas, especially in a matrixed environment, to drive alignment

  • Strong ability to drive results while developing and maintaining relationships

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Mathematics / Statistics, related Quantitative degree, or Supply Chain MBA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated critical thinking / problem solving skills applied to organizational challenges

  • Extensive experience leading inventory management or inventory optimization functions

  • Proven track record leading work across complex teams and diverse business environments

  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Mathematics / Statistics, or related Quantitative degree.
