Your New Role

The Sr. Counsel, Legal, Distribution & Commercial Partnerships provides business and legal affairs support across a wide spectrum of WBD’s content distribution business, including the global distribution of direct-to-consumer (DTC) video services like Max and the domestic distribution of linear television channels such as TNT, TBS, CNN, HGTV, Food Network and Discovery Channel and a broad offering of FAST channels.

Your Role Accountabilities

  • Partner with content distribution colleagues to plan, manage, negotiate, and draft license agreements for the distribution of DTC services, linear television channels (including VOD and TVE rights), and FAST channels across a wide range of traditional and emerging platforms (e.g., cable, telco, wireless, social, digital).

  • Review, critically evaluate, interpret, and synthesize existing license agreements to identify key issues, ensure compliance and advise clients on contractual issues.

  • Explain ramifications of proposed actions under the framework of existing license agreements.

  • Communicate, coordinate, and collaborate with cross-functional teams on topics such as ad sales, product, technology, litigation, accounting and finance.

  • Maintain an awareness and understanding of the latest developments in the law, regulatory environments, and technology as they relate to the distribution of media content, including piracy, windowing, and packaging of content.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 4-7 years practicing law with a national law firm or in a corporate legal department.

  • Experience with content distribution and licensing preferred.

  • JD from an accredited law school required.

  • Admission to Georgia or New York State Bar in good standing or willingness and qualification to be Registered In-House Counsel.

  • Strong legal transactional skills and experience negotiating, drafting, analyzing, and interpreting wide range of contracts.

  • Must be able to research legal questions and communicate responses effectively to all levels of company.

  • Ability to problem solve in efficient, business-friendly, creative manner.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; must be able to write in a well-organized, concise, and precise manner.

  • Ability to build strong internal client relationships with personnel of all levels, effectively advise senior-level executives, and produce strong client and partner satisfaction through practical and strategic thinking.

  • Must be agile, proactive, and highly motivated; must have positive, team-oriented attitude, excellent judgment, ability to handle high volume of work with minimal supervision and to assess risk, make decisions and prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines.

  • Must enjoy welcoming new business challenges and working in dynamic, fast-paced environment with great colleagues and world-class IP and entertainment.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $126,350.00 - $234,650.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
