Home Depot Specialist, Meeting & Events in Atlanta, Georgia
Position Purpose:
Work with internal customers to plan, manage and execute small meetings and events. This includes request for proposals, site selections, logistics planning and budget management. Responsible for managing meeting related expenditures. Position also works with department Event Manager/s on larger meetings and events locally, nationally and/or internationally.
Key Responsibilities:
45% Work with assigned Event Managers on larger meetings and events with designated logistics and tasks
20% Independently plan, manage and execute every facet of assigned internal small scale events. This includes client planning, site selection, menu planning, selection and ordering of gifts/awards, creation and ordering of signage, and selection and coordination of hotel and air/ground transportation, budget management.
15% Conduct event analysis of cost savinsg, AMEX, P&L and invoice reconciliation. Conduct post event follow up and assessments.
10% Manage external vendors including but not limited to contract negotiations and onsite staffing for meetings and events both onsite and offsite.
10% Metric analysis for reporting and process improvement - contracts, budgets, client surveys
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
Typically reports to Dir, Events Management
Responsible for helping others and providing on-the-job training or guidance
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Must continuously stand or walk or regularly requires lifting/handling/carrying material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
Working Conditions:
- Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, fumes or odors.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Bachelor's degree
Preferred prior experience in Events Planning
