Responsible for translating the core architecture for business requirements into the final technical solution (consisting of platform, network, software, cloud, etc.) through functional, performance, and reliability analysis using engineering models and techniques, primarily through software development throughout the vertical stack. Defines designs; Provides technical enablement for application components and subsystems for an Application(s). Drives important design decisions for development team.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Executes on change restriction scheduling, approvals, and leadership level summaries to reduce outages and defects, grow team engagement and awareness, improve customer experience, and drive relevance

  • Reviews release scope to ensure clarity and provides and/or facilitates approvals.

  • Works with engineers to create and ensure stable release metric dashboards

  • Works with release and product managers to create and ensure stable release calendars and release data for team review.

  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert for release scheduling, freeze periods and metrics.

  • Works in an Agile environment with release and product management to refine reporting processes.

  • Implements best practices in change management, including assessing and implementing processes for automation.

  • Acts as an advocate to leadership and all members of the organization for change management to build awareness and understanding of upcoming deployments across teams; presents release metrics and change management processes to teams and leadership.

  • Creates professional, leadership-level change restriction communications, hosts/manages change control board, performs release approvals, and manages hotfix/defect/special release approvals and scheduling.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field preferred

  • 3+ years of change and/or release management experience with proven track record of managing all aspects of software releases throughout their lifecycle

  • Experience within high tech, software and/or wireless/telecom industry highly desired

  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or experience in software development, web technologies, release management, metrics dashboards and customer communications such as email, SMS and push notifications.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to convert release data into summaries that foster understanding and reduce outages.

  • Experience working within scaled agile development teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to present complex technical information in a clear manner to peers, developers, and senior leaders.

  • Technical skills include: Atlassian-Jira and Confluence, SharePoint, Excel, Microsoft Lists, Scaled Agile Framework, full stack web design, application design and architecture.

  • PMO certification and/or Project Management background

  • Experience in a retail or consumer organization

Our Senior System Engineers earns between $116,700-$196,100 USD, Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
