Summary The primary purpose of this position is to carry out public health policy, planning, and evaluation activities for an organization. The incumbent is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and management for the organization in the development and maintenance of initiatives to advance the mission of the organization, and support capabilities to plan, direct, and coordinate national and international progress on issues related to public health. Responsibilities As a Public Health Analyst (Policy) you will: Develop reports or presentations and perform a variety of analytic duties involving public health and other program issues that contain complicating elements. Propose public health program and other changes necessary to respond to changes in policy. Cultivate and maintain relationships with other organizational units including other Federal agencies and quasi-governmental groups and other key partners including national and international organizations. Manage special cross-cutting initiatives and task force groups to accomplish programmatic goals. Analyze and/or identify specific concerns or conditions of relevance and importance to the mission and activities of the organization. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 level of difficulty and responsibility in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph. Specialized experience is experience at or equivalent to which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience identifying, reviewing, and analyzing actions such as public health legislation, executive directives, policy issuances, and other statements of public health policy to identify any potential impact on public health. Documenting Experience: In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description. Experience that would not normally be part of the employee's position is creditable, however, when documented by satisfactory evidence, such as a signed memorandum from the employee's supervisor or an SF-50 or SF-52 documenting an official detail or other official assignment. The documentation must indicate whether the duties were performed full time or, if part time, the percentage of times the other duties were performed. It is expected that this documentation is included in the employee's official personnel record. In order to receive credit for experience in your resume that is not within the official series and grade level of your official position, you must provide a copy of the appropriate documentation of such experience as indicated above. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
