The Atlanta Long COVID Collaborative is accepting applications for a postdoctoral fellowship position through the Emory University School of Medicine Department of Medicine. This position is funded by the Agency of Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and is renewable on an annual basis depending on performance. The fellowship provides training through applied mixed methods design, health surveillance data analysis and dissemination, and practical experience working with local and national Long COVID patient advocates and community partners to support a mission to improve access to coordinated person-centered Long COVID healthcare. The post-doctoral fellow would have access to many opportunities to engage with multidisciplinary team of faculty within Emory School of Medicine, including subject matter experts in the fields of Pulmonology/Critical Care/Sleep Medicine, Cardiology, Immunology, Infectious Diseases, Gastroenterology, Rheumatology, Neurology, Neuropsychology, Psychology, General Medicine, and Geriatrics. The candidate would have opportunities to receive feedback from faculty and staff in regular trainee research in progress meetings. Numerous opportunities exist for the fellow to participate in research using primary and secondary data, manuscript preparation and writing, and grant writing in a collaborative environment. The fellow would lead the iterative mixed methods programmatic evaluation of the Emory and Grady Long COVID care clinics and provide feedback to stakeholders to improve local healthcare provision. Additionally, the fellow would participate in the AHRQ Long COVID Learning Community cross-recipient secondary analysis to identify barriers and facilitators of quality Long COVID care delivery across all nine Long COVID Centers of Excellence to inform clinical best practices and guide national policy change. This position provides many opportunities for fellows to explore their own research questions in the expectation of applying for a mentored training grant at the end of year 1 of the fellowship to support a research training and career development plan for future years of the fellowship. Candidates are encouraged to pursue F32 funding and/or TL1 funding through the Georgia Clinical and Translational Science Institute.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.
