Job DescriptionThe Embedded Software Engineer in the Applied Embedded Systems Division (AES) supports the design, development, and implementation of various applications in embedded software using the latest embedded processors and System-on-Chip (SoC) technologies. The embedded software supports a variety of applications to include avionics and Electronic Warfare (EW) systems. This work may consist of high bandwidth data collection, digital signal processing, data manipulation, custom interfaces, and SoC processor interaction.Job Duties:Analyze system and functional requirements to develop solutionsDesign, develop and validate embedded softwareTest and debug software modules and integrate with other modulesSupport, develop, and improve interfaces with firmware or hardware (via the operating system (OS) or bare metal)Integrate system components and support equipment in laboratory and field settingsServe as a technical expert on assigned projects and systems to include keeping up-to-date on industry standards, system interfaces, engineering tools, and road maps for current and future updatesDevelop technical papers for conferences and present research to sponsorsPrepare and conduct technical briefings for existing and potential sponsorsGuide less experienced researchers developing embedded and electronic systemsPublish or provide contributions to research papers associated with embedded systemsParticipate in technical meetings with GTRI and sponsor personnel, and support issue tracking and sprint planningPerform other duties as assignedTravel RequirementsEducation & Length of ExperienceSenior Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/AssociateA Bachelor's degree and Masters degree with one or both in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,A Bachelor's degree and Masters degree with one or both in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, orA Doctoral degree and Master's degree with one or both in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.PrincipalResearch Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/AssociateA Bachelor's degree and Masters degree with one or both in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field and eleven (11) years of relevant full-time experience, orA Doctoral degree and Master's degree with one or both in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience.Required Minimum Qualifications7+ years of experience in software development with C, C++, Ada, or AssemblyExperiences with embedded processors, such as Cortex, Peripheral Interface Controller (PIC), 8051, AVR, or Microprocessors without Interlocked Pipeline Stages (MIPS)Experience with software test and debugPreferred QualificationsExperience with System on Chip (SoC) architecturesExperience with embedded operating systems (Yocto, VxWorks, Greenhills, FreeRTOS)Experience developing systems for military or high-reliability applicationsExperience working directly with sponsor technical and managerial representativesExperience leading technical projects and/or teamsActive SECRET clearanceUS Citizenship RequirementsDue to our research contracts with the US federal...
