Emory University Director/Division Chief of Emory Epilepsy Program in atlanta, Georgia
The Emory University School of Medicine Department of Neurology, as part of the Emory Brain Health Center, invites applications, at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, for the position of Director and Division Chief of the Emory Epilepsy Program. We seek an outstanding and visionary leader with experience in clinical or basic research, clinical epilepsy, and education, as well as dedication to epilepsy and to neurological care for underserved populations. The Director will oversee clinical, research and educational missions, reporting directly to the Chair of Neurology. The Emory Epilepsy Program is an NAEC-accredited Level 4 epilepsy center. Our program is particularly strong in epilepsy surgery (including the largest series of laser ablation patients in the country), neurostimulation, intensive care EEG monitoring, neurpsychology, and epidemiology. The Program faculty is comprised of 12 fellowship-trained neurologists and three epilepsy neuropsychologists. We work closely with two epilepsy neurosurgeons, 7 pediatric epileptologists, and a strong array of basic scientists. A recently-completed strategic plan for the Epilepsy Program calls for significant increased resources and integration with all epilepsy-related activities within the University. The Director will coordinate and develop all epilepsy and EEG services at Emory’s 4 primary teaching hospitals: Emory University Hospital, EUH Midtown, Grady Memorial Hospital, and the Atlanta VA Medical Center, as well as epilepsy care for patients throughout the Emory Healthcare network. Epilepsy research at Emory is currently supported by over $15 million dollars in research funding ranging from genetics, proteomics, basic electrophysiology, behavioral studies, and non-human primate work to clinical studies, outcomes research and epidemiology. Our educational mission includes training of 8 fellows in ACGME-accredited clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy programs, 32 Emory neurology residents, medical students, patients and community caregivers.
